Welcome to a new academic school year. TCOE is proud to continue its partnership with HCPSS with presenting Community Academies! The Council of Elders, in collaboration with HCPSS, will be holding their first Community Academy of the 2018 – 2019 school year on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Oakland Mills Middle School. The academy will start at 9:00am and end at 11:15am.

Social Media Awareness and Combating Bullying
This topic is so very important as it brings attention to the different forms of bullying, which are not limited to peer-to-peer.

The Howard County Public School System has supports available to support all students at various stages of social and emotional development. This session will discuss the various aspects of social emotional development that are critical to the success of your students. Social Emotional health is a critical component of academic success.
Child care and interpretation services are available; however, you must call in advance to make arrangements at 410-313-1598. Please share our flyer with your neighbors and other community members.

TCOE Community Academy – Finding the Right Support for Your Child (including 504/IEP process)

1) What are 504 and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) plans and what are the procedures for each.
2) What support is available for your child.
3) What are the responsibilities of the HCPSS, understanding that some support is required, not optional
