Description of Session:
The academy will assist parents with understanding the process for reporting bullying. Representatives from the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) and the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) will discuss bullying, consequences of cyberbullying and the proper use of social media. TCOE members will be available to share personal stories of bullying incidents and how they were resolved.
For Parents: Come learn about bullying reporting and investigative procedures, including cyberbullying by the HCPD. Additionally, learn about various social media sites students are accessing, how to monitor the social media sites, and the potential consequences for inappropriate usage.
For Students: Educate students on how bullying affects others. The goal is to have student panels for the middle and high school students as well as information on how to report bullying, not only against other students, but against HCPSS staff members as well.
