John Newton was an 18th-century slave trader whose spiritual awakening led him to write the hymn “Amazing Grace”. This play spins the story of one man’s slow, painful, intensely dramatic moral awakening to the abominations of slavery. This play is a tale of romance, rebellion and redemption.
